As a Languages Assistant or Au Pair?
As a Languages Assistant your role in the Host Family will be to ensure the children will practice with you your native language (English, German, French…). You will look after the children for, aprox, 25 hours per day plus 1 baby sitting night per week in the family. You will have free accomodation and meals and you also will have more than 70 euros per week as pocket money, depending on the number of hours helping the family.
As an Au Pair the number of hours looking after the children will be from 25 up to 40 hours per week. Your main role will be to help the family looking after the children. A native specific language is not requiere… You will have free accomodation and meals and you also will have around 70 euros per week as pocket money, depending on the number of hours helping the family.
Your Responsabilities and Commitments
I want to be a Languages Assistant or Au Pair in Spain because:
- I want to learn Spanish as Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world (after Chinese and English). As a native language approximately 500 million people are native speakers and now every year, the number of people who have choosen studing it is incredibly increasing.
- I want to improve my Spanish level as this will give me better chances for future employment.
- I also want to improve my Spanish because I am clever enough to understand the value of language skills, and particulary, Spanish skills.
- In the United Nations, Spanish is one of the sixth Official Languages.
- I know the best and quickest way to learn a language is living with a host family.
- I enjoy meeting new people, having new friends and learning from different cultures.
- I enjoy looking after children, even I will want to do this for my future career.
- I need to earn money during my stay abroad.
- I want to become independent and return to my home country ready for the future and smarter for my friends.
- And of course, I love Spain, its weather, its people, its youth nightlive, its food, its opportunities…
- I love Spain because of its History and Culture: there’s a wealth of history, and ancient cultures and traditions to discover. Spain is an easy place to travel around – even on a budget; with plenty of bus and rail networks offering discounts for young travelers.
- Or perhaps you want to come to Spain because you are thinking to become an English Teacher in this country in a future…
In short, I want to learn Spanish earning money because I want to have the opportunity of experience the Spanish culture.
With Aupairpluschildren REGISTRATION is FREE. However we give you all the help, support, advice and service before, during and after your placement with the host family to make sure you have a pleasant and safe experience. Our target is offering a childcare quality service which generates confidence to families and Applicants. In this sense, A+C :
- Is not an Internet Agency, so all our placement processes have a personalized treatment.
- Gives to the Applicant wide information about the host family and his/her duties in order to avoid future problems
- Our host families are confident.
- We also provide information about your destination (what to do, what to see, transportations, languages schools, etc)
- We will provide you information about the proximity of other applicants in the area, and also we will organise events for all of you
- After completing the cultural exchange program, you receive a A+C certificate.
The stay in a host family can be from 1 to 12 months.
- SUMMER SEASON AUPAIR OR LANGUAGES ASSISTANT: In common practice, very often host families seek Summer Applicants, and the stay last between 1 or 3 months. If you only want to experience Spanish culture and improve your Spanish for a short term, this is your choice.
- WINTER SEASON AUPAIR OR LANGUAGES ASSISTANT: In Winter Season, you usually will stay a minimum of 6 months. If you want Spanish to become your second language, this is your opportunity.
REQUIREMENTS
- Age 18 up to 27 (you can apply when you are 17 -no age limits for EU-Applicants- but usually not older than 30).
- To be unmarried and to have no children
- To be flexible, friendly and open
- To be happy to help with childcare
- To be fit and healthy (Medical Report)
- No criminal record
- Male places exist but are very limited.
- You need a valid passport or IC
- Minimum Spanish skills are not required for A+C
YOUR RIGHTS
- Free accommodation: you will have your own habitable and furnished room and you share the kitchen and the living areas
- You don´t have to pay for the food in your host family.
- You will receive weekly pocket money. The amount is between 70€ to 90€ approximately
- You won´t be obliged to do hard housework
- You will have days off: at least one whole day per week and free time hours in labour days
- Holidays: you must have, at least, one paid week for each 6 months of work.
- You must have enough time to go to a languages school in order to acquire higher Spanish skills, to visit the city, to practice Spanish, having new Spanish friends… In this sense, the host family would give you the support necessary to achieve these aims. Also our Agency can help you in this sense.
- The host family must ensure that you are practicing Spanish
- The host family will pick you up in the airport, rail or bus station upon arrival

In order to guide you, these would be your main duties. Nevertheless, the you will be informed about them before coming to the host family:
Commitments
- Don’t hit the children under any concept or circumstance.
- Not to make use of the phone for international calls without permission of the family.
- To respect the schedules agreed with the family (hour of getting up, night exits, eaten hours, … etc).
- To take advantage of the opportunity to learn Spanish with the host family
- To have the best intentions with the host family in order to have a pleasant and happy stay.
- To respect the host family authority and its habits and routines.
I WANT TO GO TO SPAIN
With Aupairpluschildren registration is FREE . Nevertheless, our agency offers a personalised treatment for both Au Pairs and host families, taking care of every single detail of the matching process.

After that, we will send you our Application Pack consisting in:
- Application Form
- Agreement
You will have to send us both documents, signed and scanned, by email. Moreover we require from you:
- Dear Family Letter
- References. If you don´t have childcare related references, you can also send us other kind of references (from your teachers, other work, etc)
- Photocopy of IC/Passport number
- Medical Report
- Photos of you with your family and/or children you have looked after
- You can also send us: Certificates of studies, First Aid, Languages, etc.
As soon we receive these documents completed, we will start to send them to those families who have applied with us that suit your profile and requirements. After that, we will send you information (family application, working hours, duties, etc) about those families who are also interested in you. You have to answer us if you are or not interested to speak to them. If your answer is positive: we will put you in contact with the family and from this point you can discuss any doubts or enquiries directly with them. If finally both parts agree, we will send you your Letter of Invitation from your “Spanish Family” and so, you can book your trip and send us your itinerary. The Host Family will go to collect you at the nearest airport, upon arrival.
